Memory Letter Framework
1) -Greeting: All words are capitalized and end with a comma
-Include the person's last name to help us make sure the books are staying organized
and letters don't go to the wrong person!
2) Start out with an introductory sentence. Don't get right into the memories with your first
sentence.
3) State one or more memories you have had that involves this person (school appropriate) and why it was memorable
to you. If you have more than one memory, you may need to break it up into more paragraphs.
4) Start a new paragraph and give the person a compliment/what you will remember most about them.
5) Give a closing statement.
6) Close with "Sincerely," "Love," etc. Notice it is capitalized (if it's more than one
word, capitalize only the first word of the phrase). Make sure to put a comma after it.
7) Indent your name under the closing. Make sure to include your first AND last name so they know who it's from
for sure!
Tips:
Check for spelling/capitalization
DO NOT:
-use texting lingo (cuz, l8r, 4, u, etc.)! This is for Language Arts, so you need to show your best writing.
-Start a sentence with and, so, but, or because (except in rare circumstances)
-Watch for fragments. Complete thoughts are needed!
Below is an example of a friendly letter. You do not need to include the address of the person you are writing to.
